I've just painted a mate of mines R reg, check for blue smoke because a common problem is valve seals, and check oil for mayonnaise

they are great cars,
check the pics in my garage of my astra gsi turbo
check back arches, sills, strut tops front and rear BOOT FLOOR as they are common for rust..
good recaro interior, trip computer, sunroof all electrics.. for the money i think they are worth it.. maybe ive got a biased opinion though
maybe best gettin the last of the gsi's 1997-1998 IIRC only 500 of them made, although they come with an ecotec engine they are still good cars..

red top is more powerful!
better i would say the redtop, reliable i would maybe say ecotec, although ive not had any experience 1st hand with an ecotec engine..
they all come with cloth interior, can fit cavalier and calibea leather though!

just baught one in white and i love it, the power actually scares me at the moment compared to my 1.4 16v corsa sport, altho i have only been driving it for a day lol, nice cars, reasonably quick (similiar stats to saxo vts's and peugeot 106 gti's etc) altho top speed of 140mph+

I think they are one of the best looking hot hatches ever made to date, drop a C20 LET in there and you also have one of the fastest hot hatches to date

std v std personally i think the 106gti or vts has the edge, especially to 70, i remember when i had mine std my mate had a std gsi and it always felt bit heavy and sluggish compared

No Stephen, the Mk3 Astra GSi standard does 0-60 in 7.4 seconds and will do 146mph in standard form.

powerboost valve will make it run rich and lose power.
