Anyone on here own one?
I just got a quote from the insurance company that means i would only have to pay £220 more to cover it till sept
So that wouldnt be a bad step from a 1.0 corsa C
Anyone had any experience of them? I know they are slower than a VTR for example but they are more of a sensible car than a boy racer car...

my bro's is a 1.8, would be a nice step up from a 1.0 indeed.
much more sensible than an old hot hatch

Thats what i was thinking.
Also I aim to have a 200sx or something simmilar in 2 years time so i cant imagine the insurance being cheap if im stepping up from a 1.0 to one of those. need something with a hint of performance first i guess

I took a 1.8 coupe out for a quick test drive (owning a 1.0 myself) I found the car to be pretty quick, lots of power in any gear as apposed to 'dropping a cog'.
I hope to buy one this summer, I'm on the look out for a 'SE2' as they come with 17" alloys, spoiler and black/blue leather interior as standard. They go for about 6k on a 51/02 plate and only come in europa blue

Just seen this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Astra-Coupe-GOLD-Imacculate-1-2leather-etc_W0QQitemZ4613873761QQcategoryZ9858QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Love the colour and the irmy kit
3CM - I had forgoten about your mouse problem from ages ago
Do they need cam belts doing at any time or are they chain like the Z10XE?
Any of them come with heated seats etc? I could stretch to 6k just

I have an Astra 1.8 Convertible, not really quick but would be quite a difference from the 1.0.
Not sure which models come with heated seats but I have leather seats and mine's got them.

One thing I've noticed by looking through the Auto Trader is that the Astra 1.8 SRi hatch is cheaper to buy compared to the 1.8 coupe.

I have one and I love it
Nice step up from my 1.2 Corsa B, enough power to keep me happy going to work and back each day.
I don't have a "kill list" ( ) because as you say it's a more sensible car than boyracer mobile. But it's still cool. A lot nicer than a hatch in my opinion, except the GSi 'cause I really like them!

Yes a GSi front is on my list too. Along with 18's of some sort and lots of other Irmscher bits, hopefully.
Doesn't take much to make them look really nice, just a few subtle touches.

Well the plan would be:
GSi Front
GSi Wheels
Big breaks of some description coupe turbo?
normal 1.8 mods (panel filter, spark plugs, de-restric airbox etc etc)

Excatly the same as my plans!
Only I've went off GSi 17's at the moment and fancy some Irmscher 18's instead.
I've already done the de-restricted airbox and K&N pannel filter. Got a Vectra C TDi airbox breather pipe to go on soon too, then do the rest.

What sort of power gains can be had from those breather mods and spark plugs?

GSi front doesn't suit the Coupe IMO

and cheaper to insure and faster, thats why i bought a 2.2 hatch rather than a 2.2 coupe

Cos it makes it look like a GSi so looks odd when you see its a Coupe and not the hatch

I quite like this

I think the Coupes a bit more of a grown up shape than the GSi hatchback so thats why it looks funny seeing the beefed up GSi front on it
