Just cleaned my car and seen the paint for the first time in the sunlight, its full of swirl marks, obivously the prev owner took it thru a carwash or two

Any tips on how to get these out? tried black t cut, didnt do much good. They almost look like loads of fingerprints when the suns directly on it.
is this just a characterisitc of black paint?

Mine has lots of them too and I've always been really careful too so can only presume it was the previous owner.

Think if a bodyshop mopped it then it would get rid of them?

sorry if i sound daft! but when you use terminology " mopping " how does that differ from polishing using a cloth!

I have a machine polisher but only used it once as I'm scared it will get some dirt on it and scratch the paint...

Car washes dont usually give swirl marks do they?

My mates dad always uses a car wash and he just has continous lines from the front to the back of the car!

Usually noticeable behind the top windscreen rubber where it meets the roof as the brushes dont get in close to the rubber, so it sort of misses a bit......paint is usually fresh looking here!

swirl marks are also known as holograms and r caused by washing a car with a sponge ,a car wash and even mopping a car the baest thing to do if u can is get the car mopped with 3m finessitte machine polish then use a de-hologrammer with a waffle pad and some finishing polish ie 3m extra fine swirl remover. then wipe off with a microfibre cloth. done!

My brothers Black car was covered in swirl marks when we first got it

I basically used Meguiars Scratch X and three coats of gold class polish and the results were very pleasing

Do try it as Gold class is specifically formulated for black cars. Used to use Tech wax on his car then switched over after seeing how brilliant the results were on my mums black Focus

This was taken three weeks after I waxed it. On this occasion I just washed it with a shampoo and dried with a chammoir Pic was also taken on a 1mp settling as well so the results were superb in the flesh.

did you find that the 'gold class' polish leaves deep black swirly type marks on the bonnet and roof ?? I have to use the electric polisher or loads of elbow grease to get them off and get a nice finish..... If i left it longer to dry, would it be easier to get off ???
