When I was getting my new gearbox fitted by a mate the other day, it was cold and wet outside - so we went to his work (indoor / flat / warm).

Anyway, the hardest part of fitting the gearbox is the lining up and fitting at the same time.

I found it quite amusing when the dude suddenly walked off and whizzed over with a fork lift, chucked a rope around it and attached it to the gearbox... lifting it into my engine bay at the right height.

*though notice the lean on my engine... just hanging on one mount in that pic.

Why is the underside of your bonnet not blue like the rest of the car?

dunno, car related, engine related, may not be a corsa but its not like GC is corsa chat only.

I say move it over and let the others who dare not step into off day have a butchers.

It had a jack under it.

Think it had to be that sort of angle to get good access to the gearbox. if it was lifted in the horizontal position it'd be tight to move it / attach sensors etc.

It had a jack under the engine. The rubber gearbox mount that came off my old gearbox was fucked.

Thankfully the gearbox + new gearbox mount were from a 2003 saxo VTS. though I was tempted with a group N mount.

This week...

hopefully having this fitted.

and these bilstein sprintline shocks

should be good.

Well be fine on one engine mount, as long as you dont put too much pressure on it it well support the engine alright.
so you fooked your other box?
what ever happened about you getting caught speeding ages ago??

6 points... Told insurance and got no increase in premium

What was worrying, was after that gearbox was fitted, I had some fluid dripping from the other side of the engine - couldn't figure out where. stopped when the car was lowered again.

Think maybe when the engine was tilted over, something was spilling out of somewhere lol.

Ah that was lucky
Was it engine or g/b oil?

agreed 3cm, looks tidy, great little cars, handle like on rails straight out the box!
