Nova sri rebuild

Heres a very quick progress report (took ages to type out and upload pics, lmao )on my nova rebuild over the last 4 months.
Some of you may/may not seen my nova sri. I bought it Feb. 2005 like this:

1.4 sri, engine done under 20 k (replacement) Std apart from speedlines, gmax suspension, 256mm brakes, exhaust momo steering wheel, digi dash, rear headrests.

By summer 2005 looked like this

De-vinaled, New drivers door, gsi bumpers in anthracite, bilstein group a suspension, Polly bushes, braided hoses, front mud flaps etc etc

It stayed like that for the rest of the summer, then was taken into the shed for a full strip down and re-build with the plan of fully stitch welding the shell, Hockley strengthen kit, respray and c16xe conversion.

Took front bumper, lights, grill etc off, and removed engine by lowering it to the floor, then raising car up, easier than removing g/box, and lifting it out the top and scratching things etc)

As whole shell was going to get stitch welded I carefully removed the interior and dash.

Started removing seam sealer and sprayed with weld through primer to protect meantime.

Pass splash guard needed a small repair.

Inner wings were sanded back, sprayed with galvanised primer, hammerite smooth black then underseal.

This was when my plans of a c16xe and changed (as I found another sri for sale, was red, k-reg, and had the Hockley kit etc fitted so worked out a bit cheaper.)
pic of the new nova:

So now I had 2 novas in bits, so the old one was priority now. The spec of the old one is slightly different due to wanting to keep the bilstein suspension, gsi kit and few other things for the new nova, so it was getting put back to having Sri Bumpers, and a nearly new gmax suspension kit that came on the car when I bought it.

The engine bay was now ready for the re-paint, but body shop were too busy/I was busy/couldn’t get a trailer, so started re-fitting interior.

Started fitting gsi side skirts. As the shells so clean I didn’t want to be drilling holes in the sills, so the white clips are held on with sikaflex adhesive (wasn’t sure on this but was speaking to a windscreen fitter, and once set on a windscreen is apparently strong enough to lift the car up with suction cups on the glass, so bound to be strong enough for a set of plastic skirts.

About a week later, car went into the body shop. As the engine was out I thought id give it a wee clean and tidy up.
Before:

I painted the block, gearbox,

4 branch re painted

Engine mounts for both novas painted

Cleaned up and painted petrol tank

Polished inlet manifold

Painted brake servo and wiper motor mounts black.

Car back from body shop:

So went about re-fitting the engine etc

Engine in, still wiring etc to do

All wired up, coolant changed, washer bottle filled, new gearbox oil etc. Cam cover fitted (painted at the same time as the engine bay)

Fuel tank and new fuel lines on:

Front wings and alloys back on,. Checked braided hoses weren’t fouling on anything.

Ran engine to temp to check things like radiator fan, and any leaks etc, all ok.

Re-fitted dash, seats, remainder of interior

Fitted front sections of the side skirts.

Front bumper, lights, grill bonnet etc back on. Ran car to temperature to check fan came on, and there was no leaks etc.
Gave the car a good wash as it was covered in dust from when my dad was putting vents in the shed walls.

Spent all yesterday cleaning, polishing and waxing it, looks alot better now!

Few pics of it washed and polished:

ITS NOW BACK ON THE ROAD FOR THE NEXT 6 WEEKS UNTIL I PUT IT UP FOR SALE TO FUND MY NEXT NOVA PROJECT.
