hi all

i was hoping somebody could tell me what this is and what does it do?

because all it does at the moment is sound like hoover every cold start (for about 20 seconds) anybody know what this could be and how much they cost?

secondary air pump i believe! something to do with warming the eninge up quicker.

Im pretty sure u can also remove it from the engine without any hassle too as its not 100% neccessary (from what ive been told!)

Its an air pump, helps the car idle when its started, its ment to do that mate

thanks for that guys,

i think mines nakered it never use to sound like that when i got it and its just got worse and worse. it is really loud now

ideas on how much these cost?

could be bearings? Look for one in a scappy or just remove it from the enigne. Pretty sure removal of its been covered somewhere on here b4

aka as Air Injection Reactor which forces air in the manifold during cold start....

Correct.

volkswagens have them aswell.

They're for reducing emmissions at initial start and under cold running conditions.

because it forces air in exhaust manifold resulting in a faster higher temperature in the exhaust and at the same time catalytic converter reaches its best operating temp

my dad's vectra sri140 has one, only ever come's on at extremely cold morning
