anyone had they're wheels powder coated black? is it anygood or does it chip easily?

been quoted £60 for 4 wheels

Thats cheap!!!!

Do it, muck will just wipe off, way better than painting them.

If you get yours done and they are OK, I'll send mine there

Bargain, sand blasting may be on top of that price...

Powder coating is dead hard wearing and wont chip, but it isn't as glossy as paint.

As above really. The finish is only as good as the metal under it. A good prep will get you a good hard wearing finish but wont be as glossy as with paint!

I had a set of brand new wheels done a while back on the cheap. They werent prepped properly and the paint pretty much fell off them!

mine cost £40 a wheel but well worth it they dont chip but you can scratch them

Oh, and as it's one of the hardest industrial fininshes you can get, you have to make sure you like the colour e.t.c... because it wont come off! (Without a lot of work and some nasty acids)...

I thought it was some tough stuff until i got carb cleaner on some bits and meltted the finish. Had to have it stripped back and recoated. Doesnt like excessive heat either.

powder coating is great stuff, makes cleaning a doodle as well, £60 is great money but i got my wheels done for nuffin

i will sand blast then glass bead them for free in work
