It depends what your idea of fast is. For a little 1.4 they are quite nippy round town but not built very well and not that nice to drive IMHO

At the end of the day, it's a Nova, a 20+ year old car.

like a corsa, but a little lighter and hence less solid. youll struggle to find a good one now tho unbless youre prepared to pay for it.

Ive had one since I passed my test and its been absolutely amazing fun, just hope the corsas as good.

Back in the day alot of people used to say the 1.3sr was just as quick, not many knocking around nowadays tho. 1.4sr used to be a quick FIRST car.

Why isnt it? Granted its face lifted, but the engine, chassis and shell are all based on the original car. It may be a 1992-1993 car but its using 20 year old technology

sos the fucking corsa mate!! Up until the facelift they used nova 8v engines which originate in the 80s, and very similar floorpan and body contruction. IMO the corsa was a backwards step in every way except the 16v engines and stiffer wider shell!

Not fast though is it. Maybe......quick

Wouldn't associate the word fast with anything that tops out at less than 140.

and the fact they dont suffer half as much with rot
better spec available
safer if you have an accident
slightly more secure

dont get me wrong I actualu quite like novas and would like a 1.3sr or a late sri but I dont think you can call the corsa b a backward step

and the fact they dont suffer half as much with rot - not really, still the same gash rear arch design, crossmember, rear panel, just most arent as old. Ive seen a lot of rusty corsas tbh.

better spec available - gsis had no leccy windows, nova did, same with sris (early) both have C/L, only changes were after the facelift you got abs and aircon

safer if you have an accident - howd you figure that one then?

slightly more secure - only in so far as the actual locks, the rest is just as easy to break, and lets face it, cav locks arent hard are they?

Then you have to consider:

Gash hard plastic dash which is more akin to mk1 nova from 1983 then mk '90 on

narrower pedal space which is horrid

shorter engine bay which makes anything on the back of the engine impossible

stupid details I keep falling over, like the fuel pump is held in by a locking ing rather than bolted in like the nova, why?

TBH the reason I baught a corsa for this was the better gearsgifter and brake servo. If I wanted to do one properly as an only car and actually spend money on the project Id have a nova, every time

cant just pop the rear window out of the corsa like you can with the nova

cant start a corsa with bits of the dash, like you can on the nova

corsa is better for security, but all the others i agree with

rear screens the same story, as is front doors locks etc. Nova igition issue is easy fixed, and most non chav modded cars have had it done now. Got to admit it was a prize cock up on vauxs part lol The major improvement came with imobilisers etc. TBH Id rather someone stole my car than damaged it cos they couldnt, my insurance covers theft, not vandalism!

Oh really? So every WRC is slow is it!?!?!?

A well driven all-singing-all-dancing 1300 8v will easily match a 2.0 on a back road.

My friend in his 1300 8v 205 Rallye caught and passed a Semi-works Clio Super 1600 on a stage in France. Says it all really. (Before someone argues - no, the Clio was in sound mechanical order)

Id pick a 1300/1400 over a 2.0 everytime.
