Going to get quotes to put car in for full valet and paint restoration...well mopped..

then get new lights etc fitted...still to buy indicators been bit busy...


Thinking about £100 to get mopped..that about right....

Mate, get yourself onto www.deatilingworld.com , the guys on there will sort you out about paint restoration and are better than the bodyshops etc.

get a portercable polisher for £200+ and do it yourself, thats what their telling everyone to do on that forum

to get a car mopped and a full wax, which includes a full polish in 1500 polish (or a G4 cutting compound depending on how bad the car is) which is a light cutting compound then a full wax which is cabuna(sp) wax which is very good and costs quite a bit the stuff we use is around £90 to the public!

Shouldnt pay more than £100

whole point is I want it done professionally as I do not have the time at the moment what with moving house and kid and loads to do etc..

yea mate it is a forum, if you look there is a scottish region. A guy from that site can do your car for you providing he is in the same area. i am getting mine done on sunday, take a look at the 'show it off' section to see the results.

what does mopping do? does it get rid of all the scratches has ne 1 done this to a black car if ya have do u have nepics thanks

i was told by my bodyshop that mopping isnt good for swirl marks, and that my swirl marks that i had were probably caused by a mop in the first place due to the perfect roundness of them.

They advised i use a high polymer wax which has worked a treat

swirl marks are caused by mops but depending what you use and then u can get rid of them, we use a woolen head with a light cutting compound and it gets rid of them!

The main cause of swiral marks are ordinary sponges used to wash the car, the grit particles get trapped between the sponge and the paintwork and they get dragged across the paint. With a porter cable polisher it would cause swirl marks but you can do a lot of damage with the rotarty polisher if not in the right hands
