i voted yes, cos i think it could work, maybe

but then again, how many newbies announce their arrival?

might be worth giving it a months trial or something

no ian, think it will just be even more of a reason for people to slag new members off, and make the site to split up if you see what i mean

No, it'll be heavily moderated and abuse will be particularly frowned upon.

IMO ian, you/tim need to do as much as possible to stop spitting the site up, can see your idea etc and it is good

But for example corsa c has loads of little sub froums everywhere, and IMO nothign every seems busy as there just to many places to look

i know, everyone has a rating. So lets say 5 people ranked dna23 as a newbie, he get pushed into the newbie forum and can't post in this forum untill ranked out?

i think eventually all the normal guys will end up in the newbie forum and all the newbies in this one

you say that though, but Passionford is really really split up, but its still busy and they never seem to have any problems with abuse or anything

how about an idiots guide for posting threads

a little pop up box jus after you click to finalise your thread should say is your thread a general car chat or requesting help or a load of crap they then click the appropriate category and an automated redirectry of there thread if it was in the wrong subject area

so is i decided to say how do i take my wheel off but try an host this in off day this pop up would tell me where it should be an once i click on its a help question then it could host my topic in the correct area

really long shot this innit

I agree splitting it up is bad, but we are busier than that.

Whats the alternative - zero tolerance on not being nice?

just think zero tolerance on memeber just slagging newbies off for no reason

what about newbies first post or first 5 posts have a [newbie] infront of there thread title, just like when you get [poll] when you do one

then you would have warning etc thats it people first post on site etc and they may not know what posts go where etc etc etc

people just to stop being idiots to new members, especially female one's

its like a bad nightclub

could have a welcome/annoucement button for the new members to create a welcome/annoucement thread if they like to.

and people could be limited to one post in that thread

dunno, not really sure on the type of things you trying to prevent

it needs splitting IMO as does the line between corsa genral chat and non-corsa genral chat. A lot of the main forum of the site is ford, VW, etc etc...

I can see lots of the 8 page i'm new vauxgirl or hornyvauxbabe threads in there... totally of tangent and full of crap

but on the other hand it would be a good area to allow newbies to meet, introduce and not clutter up GC/OD but... if we're not careful it could become a big mess with forums here then sub forums and so on.... atm it's clean and tidy but this cud work
