G'Day peeps!
Has anyone been getting a shoot NTL broadband service on and off for a few days?
One minute its fine, then its not. The ntl server status site says ongoing maintenance throughout the country but from the hours of 12am till 6am......
Bloomin annoying!

dont have any problems here mate, chance it is them peeing about - otherwise you could change your DNS settings (google on how to change them and use the pipex DNS ips in a thread by me).
Eitherway, unless its been on going for a few days then i wouldnt worry about it, but phone customer services if it continues mate

Changing DNS:
under your network cards properties, tcp/ip properties, change it from "obtain DNS....automatically" to "Use the following..." then press ok to all the windows.
Use pipex's dns servers, might help -
Primary - 158.43.240.4
Secondary - 158.43.240.3

Would I change the settings in the router for the above? or still change my own network card properties?

yea, try resetting the router mate - though ive just had the same problems, had to use ip addresses to access google (216.239.39.104) but i usually find the pipex dns's to be generally quicker

Ace ken
just reset the router and now all works.
I entered BT DNS, PIPEX and another.
So effectively if it has problems it'll search all 4 now just needed to switch router on and off to get it to do it

PMSL the joke is - I live in a house of 8 students, only I and 1 other in the house know anything computery.
So when all the houses mates were coming up to me saying 'Why the fuck isn't the internet working? why is it taking forever to access sites' - I just kept saying ah its that aussie bastard upstairs downloading 24/7 - there's no more bandwidth for you guys.
They've all been calling him a twat etc
Oops oh well - internet is working nicely now though. Cheers dom.

It should be resolved in the morning, ntl says an overload of the DNS servers has caused this, there are investigating, things wont be back to normal until tomorrow morning sometime apprantly.

you need to hard reset the router...press the reset button at the back of your router for 30secs...then turn on your cable modem and everything should be fine
