im having trouble saving a image which is feathered with no background.
i want to use it in my powerpoint slide which has a background. i dont want a background image on the slide as its feathered.
ive tried saving as a gif but no luck.
just tried PNG and powerpoint kept flashing so i cant use that.

PNG sorted it ok.
next question 
i have an image with a transparent background.
how can i get a opacity gradient so that its almost dissolved on the right hand side?
ive tried gradient overlay but that is with a colour.
anyone?

u need to use a gradient mask on the layers pallete there should be an icon at the bottom near the new layer and delete layer that looks a bit like [ * ] click that then if you paint with the brush in black you cant see that part and in white makes it visible...
you can do the same with a black to white gradient have a play to find out how
