Them engines are solid. My mate has one sitting just over 160.000 on the clock and still gets the shit kicked out it most days.

I wouldnt get a prelude they are big and heavy cars go for something like a eg hatch

I'd use it for distance work... doesn't need to handle tbh, just chew up the miles and give reasonable power

Why does everyone say that

It's the VTEC SYSTEM that hasn't failed. The engines have, although admittadely very rarely, it's the actual VTEC engagement system that has never failed.

Prelude...... 2.2 vtec in a straight line is as quick as the civic type R and are a fraction of the price.

Be warned Preludes have shoot paint work so finding one without rust is hard. Seen some go on ebay quite cheap.

V-tec - the actual mechanism as said has never gone wrong, but engine faliures do happen, but the below engine survived the crash!!!

I've got a JDM 2.2 vtec prelude. Not alot of torque but wind it up and it flies. Go for a jap import for low miles and options. Watch out for rust, noisy clutches, blue smoke, and most importantly walk away if 5th gear is notchy. It's a common fault with the gearbox on these cars. Go on www.hyper-rev.com for info. Or pm me, i'm happy to help.

I agree with you there.

The VTECs are impressive but I just don't like the idea of pushing the engine until the VTEC kicks in.

*Awaits serious flamage for saying that *

It's not just about high revs, it's what happens at high revs. VTEC is addictive, but, it don't half damage your fuel consumption.
Angie, have you driven a car with VTEC?
