just after basic info on vw passat, around 1997 shape, do some have the 20v turbo engine in? insurance group on the turbo? prices?specs? anything is appreciated

im after the 150 bhp variant, how are the engines for mild tuning?ie remap chip etc

same engine as the golf, apart from its turned round 90degrees for some reason! engine over hangs the front wheels a bit so dont expect it to handle well.

can be tuned well, wont be as fast as the golf due to it being a fair bit heavier.

good cars i looked at them but realised i could afford a golf so went for the golf!

ahh rights, not really bothered abotu handlin now, just will need sumthing more practical next years and a caged 205 doesnt cut it, after a nice black one then slap some rs4 wheels on and chip

theres a few of those 20v turbos where i live and they dont seem quick but they sure turn heads. i had a look last year and im sure they started at around £2k nice cars

yeaa seen a couple on ebay around 2k parkers 0-60 8.6 seconds, fair enough for me, im after comfort and space,abit more of a chill out mobile caompared to the 205

The pollen filter housinf will leak, it will the destroy the connting blokc on the n/s foot well and the convinance contol unit

exactly. that was why i looked at them. something quickish but much more comfortable and grown up. this one near me is blue with 18s on (look like golf or audi rims) on coilovers and it looks really reall nice. would never had thought they only cost 2k

yes, lots of RVF black silicon, when looking at them, check the housing, and the n/s front and rear carpet for damp/water marks

vw recommend that its easier to take the engine out to change the oil pump! it is a mission, need to drop the box off if you want to change it in situ!

we spoke to a contact at vw, they said they drop the engine to do it...... we did it with engine in, but the box out.

dont really get much call to do oil pumps on the passat at jam tho lol

best checking for changed oil pump then? do they have tendancy to go? anything else? still a long term plan yet but to check to make sure its not goign to be a ball ache
