brosters is stripped and 190bhp. HE got a 15.4 @ 97mph iirc
but he is the first to admit he cant launch the car at all.

just thinking how much much torque plays in the equation...
my banjo'd 2.1 ran 185bhp (and did the 1/4mile after a trackday, so would have been more fucked)
and got a 13.9
he has a diff right? well ofcourse he does, but an LSD?

yeah, Quaife ATB
in all fairness, PVS was the first time he'd taken it to santa pod with 190bhp, a diff and a paddle clutch, so his times werent as good as they would be if he was used to it
and his times were getting .3 of a second quicker every time (but you only get 3 for your 15 quid at PVS)

a 20xe will be better on a 1/4 Dave, its torquier, theres no question about that.
standard 20xe's seem to get mid/high 14s, and modded 16xe's seem to struggle to match that....

its yet another 2.0xe vs 1.6xe thread
right, heres my opinion. having owned a 2 litre corsa and a tuned 1.6 even though the 1.6 cost a squillion times more to build I wouldnt ever try and compare the two. the following points are the reasons why:
1. noise of tb's on the 1.6 is lovely
2. handling
3. throttle response
4. reliability
5. its different
6. faster than the 2 litre on the road.
7. did I mention the noise?

eh....
this is TB'd c20xe and TB'd 16xe though...
Noise - i think a 20xe with tb's is better.
handling - down to the driver. A lot of folk will kid themselves that they can do x y z... all reality is you prob just have to drive the 20xe corsa differently than a 16xe. In the right hands a corsa with 20xe handles. fact
throttle response.... why on earth is that better with a 16xe?
reliability - if both are equally well built, they are as reliable as the other.
faster on the road - rubbish.
i was asking Q's about a specific car, not saying x is faster than y and always will be. You turned this into the argument you were arguing against

My stock 1.6 sport run 16's flat all day long (could be improved with better set up without touching the engine)
With decent tyres (got roadmasters on at the mo :lol this could be very much improved.
Brosters car is capable of so much more (ive driven it :cool) but the donkey cant drive (his own admission)
But the engine life of a 16xe high power is sooooo much less than a 20xe.
You just cant do a decent compairson of the 2 set ups.
Both have pluses and minuses attached to them.

Well hes just spent squillions of quid on his 16xe so its going to be a touchy subject if someone presents an objective arguement regarding a comparison to a 20xe

TBH, I would rather have a tuned 16XE.
For these reasons: -
The fact of grinning when blowing off a larger engined car, who gives a shoot if it's had 5K spent on it.
When someone asks what's in it you reply it's a 1.6, and it's 180 BHP.
(I wish but you get the idea)

TBH, I bet if u run a XE corsa & 16XE corsa the same set-up I.E; with decent colivers, poly-bushes, strut braces, all the camber, tracking set-up and had equal drivers in them, I bet neaither of them is quicker round the corners.

i agree on handling i owned 20xe corsa and my mrs owned a .16 corsa at same time. my 2.0 had torque steer and her 1.6 had slight oversteer followed by understeer slightly which made car feel well strange
leats with 2.0 its just front end to keep in check
