Going to start dismantling my engine this evening. Been through a list of parts with rob im going to be replacing while im at it. So far got head gasket, bolts, water pump, oil filter, thermostat, and an oil and coolant change. Any thing else I should be doing while im at it, not the sort of thing I want to be doing too often. So to minimize the chance il need to ever do it again what else should I bare in mind? I would go with a high perfomance gasket but dont think I could fit one legally accorded to rally regs and also would prob take a while to come and I need to get back on the road asap.

whenever you take the cambelt off it's best to just replace it. Unless its only been on for a couple of months.

Change oil filter regardless matey...
Think it might be worth doing cambelt kit if it hasnt got mileage down.
I didnt do mine when my valve went cos it had only been done 2000 miles before.

you'll need exhaust and inlet gaskets too
just get a gasket set from a motor factors, it'll have headbolts in it already, and all the gaskets you need.

exactly, spend 60 quid at a motorfactors, and then all you need is the water pump and cambelt kit on top of it.

Yes, bit pointless changing the oil if the filters choked up!!
