How are bumpers fixed on, cos i bumped into a van the other day and it's very loose at the front on the drivers side just after the wheel arches. I can't see how it fixes on other than simply locking in.

there is one bolt either side of the bumper which connects the the wheel arch cover. Inside the arch, there is a plastic cover that can be popped open and inside there is a plastic nut. The other two fixings are under the bonnet. There maybe some fixings at the bottom of the bumper attached to the front valance.
