Been with O2 the last 5 years or so I'd say, never had any problems with them, happy to stay.
But yesterday I phoned up their upgrades department as mine is due soon and wanted to see what my options were, I am after a Nokia N80 and O2 work out what upgrades you can get based on your last 6 months bills (i.e how much you've spent with them), my bills are around the £30/month which is how much my tariff is - so I'm on the correct one.
The woman at O2 reckons that if I want to upgrade to a N80 it'll cost me £130 unless I spend more with O2 inbetween now and Sept 11th when my upgrade is due
To me that seems fucking pointless!
She said I could get lesser phones for free but I explained I was wanting to upgrade to do just that - upgrade - not get something that is no better than what I currently have!
Anyway, had a look on the Three website and they do a package which has more text & minutes a month, is cheaper and comes with a free N80!
So there has to be a catch - so are Three a load of shit or have they got better over the past few years (I know they used to be wank)

N80 is a smartphone, unlikely to be free they cost more than normal phones.
i.e 6280 £250
N80 £400
So they wont discount the whole cost if you dont spend alot. Same with orange, if you can find a network desperate enough then go for it
02 arent being cunts tho tbh

I wouldnt bother with the N80, sent mine back on wednesday coz it was crap, O2 tried to charge me £130 too. I kicked up a fuss and they halved my line rental. Then went they processed the order it came up as £80 anyway. Winner

Was having a play with my mates N80 late last night and I quite like it.
Three will do me the N80 on a better contract than I am currently on for £50 which is better than what O2 want, I expect it'll go the way it normally does, I'll end up speaking to the disconnections department at O2, they'll offer me a better deal than what the upgrades department can and I'll probably stick with them.
