Can you damage a shock absorber by twisting the piston ?? My rear shocks have developed a squeak and was wondering if that by turning the piston, a little when tightening it up would have damaged them ?? The shocks are GMax, which could be the root of the problem as i've heard they squeak anyway. Is there anything i can do about this apart from removing and replacing them with something else ??

No, not by twisting them. squeaking noises from the suspension are normally due to worn out bushes, not the actual dampers.

the bushes are brand new and came with the kit...
Will it fail the MOT if they squeaks ?? They rebound fine, and don't bounce around...

Nope, cant fail on noise, as long as theres no leaks and they are secure and they rebound ok, They will pass the MOT

Silicon spray what though ?? the bushes or the actual shock ??

Just jack the car up so both back wheels are off the ground (Might be good to use two axle stands on the rear jack points, Also make sure car is in gear and cant move), then get a seperate jack under the wing arm, jack that up slightly to take any force off the shocks, undo the bolts on the bottom of the shocks , let the jack holding the swing arm down slightly to seperate the shocks from there mounts, then grease round the bushes on the bottom of the shocks and clean off any rust etc on the swing arm mounts, jack the swing arm back up in place and replace the bolts (with some thread locker on the bolts) and this should solve your problem.
