I have a few questions about insurance as i'm not sure on these myself..

Children under 16: Yes/No
Will saying yes push the premium up or lower it (maybe because you'd be a safer driver )?

Are you the registered keeper: Yes/No
If the car was registered to someone else would this put the premium down because maybe you'd be seen as not driving it as often?

Add any other driver
Does the old 'adding a parent' still work these days?

Was just wondering about the above, any help appreciated

Adding a parent works for me, quite well too.

I doubt the registered keeper would make any difference, i'd imagine children would take it down.

You could just get quotes with different answers to those questions and see?

You just added your mum as a named driver and it reduced the quote by that much? OR do you mean you are named on her policy?

use confused.com, then when you have the first quote, (which it will save) click on it, click next, select "amend the quote" and change details on it.

you can do that 5 times, so you can compare

Adding a parent knocks quite a lot of my quotes, all depends on car, insurer, driver etc

Nah, I mean I changed it to her policy and added myself as a named driver. Even though I won't build up my own no claims, it's worth it for me at 17 for the first couple of years. :]

It's because of the way the computer calculates it iirc.

An older driver on there is likely to drive the car so therefore if they are older and more experienced the risk is spread over the two and lower.

The children i think raises it due to distractions in the car and more people in the car so more claims .etc

For me it was going to be £1255 for a 1.4 sport TPFT, but I added my mum onto my policy and it was £10 cheaper... for a GSi

SO, to summarise...

Children under 16: Yes/No
Will make the premium go up

Are you the registered keeper: Yes/No
Won't make a difference

Add any other driver
Actually works if you add your mum

Cheers fellas
