Thinking of buying a corsa with an xe in it,how does the car stand with mr mot testar?
Seeing as it was once a 1.4 sport which was a euro 2 emmissions and now the car has the xe which is a euro 1 emmissions, how will the car stand?
The car has a cat and lambda sensor?Any info please?

My GSi passed today with a 20Xe in it, gpt told by an MOT place that they do the emissions / cat etc test on the engine that is in the car, not the one that it was fitted with as standard i.e C16XE in my case

emmissions are tested on the year of the engine. Engine age has to be proved to MOT tester(copy of old logbook?). Chances are if the engine had a cat from factory, you'll need one to pass MOT.

what about if the car is still down on log book(v5) as a 1.4 16v,would that be a problem?
Do they put the model of car and engine size down on the new computer MOT's?

they needed the engine number on mine which was already updated on my V5. For vehicles with engine swaps, the MOT is done by the age of the engine OR the vehicle, whichever is older.

as mine was a 20xe didnt really have a problem as the engine prefix stopped in about 1990 meaning it was def pre cat engine, if it had been a c20xe as said above I would have had to proove the age of the engine

So if I got a engine from a new car with tight emissions and dropped it into an Old nova, It would be tested on the old emissions laws of the nova?

What if the car is still down as a 1.4 on the v5 and has a c20 in?
Do the testers put the engine size down on the new computer mot's because this would cause a problem if the car is still down as a 1.4 on the v5?

They put your reg into the computer and it will say corsa 1.4, if its got a XE in it then they test it on the 1.4 emissions etc
