Was just wondering how a C20xe Corsa would fair against a VXR Astra. Spec of the corsa is -
Standard except for - power cap, de-cat, cams and superchip.
How would they compare through acceleration (low, mid and high range) and top speed etc...
Thanks in advance for any comments etc...

Astra would destroy it.
astra is 240bhp, corsa is 170 probably.
astra is factory built, corsa is knocked up by someone.
the astra will handle the power better, have more traction, and more torque.
no contest really.

vxr astra would be quicker i would think, its got alot more power!!! 220+bhp compared to 160 for the corsa!
i had a 2litre corsa and they are practically fast cars and easy to drive, not WOW fast tho i dont think! they are not amazingly fast and beat everything!!!
the feeling of my astra turbo which was tuned alot and a 2litre corsa were light years apart!!!!! corsa seemed like normal car with bit of poke! astra was scary, everytime u booted it u just held on watching the spedo shoot up at the same speed the rev counter would be on teh corsa!! hehe

the astra would be faster, however, if the corsa has vxr stickers on it, totally different story.

For reference, 2 litre Corsa is faster than my turbo convertible. VXR faster again so not sure against the Corsa. Probably not much in it.

Yeah Rob, mines slower than GSi turbo, I've never tried it next to a coupe but I would assume that would have the edge also.
VXR has 40 brake on mine though, and is a lot lighter.

Astra would be a little quicker to 100mph than a corsa (depending on Corsa spec, wheels, weight etc), but the corsa will loose every single time. Won't be tooo far behined though. Thats from 0mph.
On a rolling start, Corsa would get the initial go on the astra, but as soon as the turbo spools up (take about 1-2 seconds), the Corsa will get left standing.
After 100mph, the corsa would get left standing in the VXR's dust. Wouldn't stand a hope in hell. VXR comes into its real performance area between 80-130.
And when it comes to anything else, braking, cornering, again, corsa will be left standing.
Astra VXR weights 1400kg + driver. Its a big time fatty.
I've got a 2.0 Corsa, and a VXR.
Steve, you really are a dumb ass. Notice you didn't reply to my last comments on that other post about the VXR
Internet cool points again?? You "Da" man..

Astra will win every single time.
Rachels GSi is a match for 2.0 16v Corsas (regardless of what Mr Mitchell says )

Ha ha, yeah, i filmed it so we have proof too
Thing is, i think the corsa will get off the line quicker, but your/2.0 corsas terminal speeds arn't as high. So the corsa gets off the line quicker (it is a lot lighter, especially yours ) but once moving the astra would pull it back in to cross the line at a quicker speed. But with 80bhp more odd it should do (but that 500kg makes a big difference off the line).
Kinda falls in line with what I said above with the corsa having the initial jump, but getting to 100mph, the astra would have it. At running speeds, the corsa really doesn't have a chance. You'll need a LET to have more of a comparison.
Its hard as well as the Astra is nice and smooth and gives a nice surge of power, but a LET corsa (well, D5 anyway ) just wants to have a big old fight with you and drag you all over the place. LET corsa FEELs much quicker and raw, but compared in a side by side straightline blat, it would be close (Standard LET). But i suppose thats like comparing a Civic Type R/Focus 170 to a 2.0 corsa. New cars will be smooth, corsa will be raw and fun.
That why I still love D4 its fun to drive. IF not a little, mad...
