ive got a 1.2 16 valve corsa t reg 1999 x12xe engine .....
i cant do the paper clip test to find out fault codes as the diagnostic plug does not have the required pins.

does anyone know what type of diagnostic tool i need to buy to read them?

dont know of any readers that will fit the tech 2 plug?
I know small garages with the likes of a snap on scanner will be able to read you the codes
I would do it for free but it would cost more in petrol than taking it to your local vauxhall for a tech 2 check!

nearly any obd scanner should be able to read the codes, snap on, omiscan, sykes pica', tech2 etc

You can do the paperclip test. I can't remember for certain, but I think it uses the SimTec system, not Motronic or whatever the other one is called.

My mechanic has a portable Snap On one, quite funky bit of kit, although he said it cost about £5k with all the bits.
