Well, last night my bro put some gay phone program on the computer as hes got a new phone. After that and he went out I went on the computer, but the internet didnt work and it took ages to shut down. So I pulled the plug out of the back of the computer. Well since I done that it doesnt switch on again?
Anyone know why lol?
There is still power going through because the monitor works, just the computer itself doesnt switch on.

when you say the monitor works.. thats usually fed from a seperate wall socket anyway, much older computers are fed from the PC power supply?
So the PC doesnt bootup at when u press the on button?
IF not, try swapping the 3 pin kettle lead out with another (if you dont have another try swapping the fuse, it might be that simple).
You could try pulling the 3 pin kettle lead out the back of the PC, put it back it slightly slowly, and you should hear it 'cackle' as it touches contact, if it does that you know the lead is fine.
If all that is fine, its most likely the PSU.
Generally, if anything else is nackard inside the PC, it should still boot.

Yes it does cackle when you put the lead in slowly, and the monitor is powered from the PC so I guess it must be pretty old :confused:
I take it the computer has just blown on me then?

take bios battery out for 1min then replace and try again

could be the power supply not sending any power to the mobo.

open up the case and look on your mobo, there will be a big watch type battery there.

Yes, look for the little circle battery (looks like a large watch battery).
Take it out and boot the PC up.
The battery is only used to remmeber your bios information, it wont make any difference.
Your power lead is fine by the sounds of it.
Follow this chart, seems pretty good:
but tbh, its gonna point at faulty PSU, which is what it sounds like.
a PSU for your PC by the sounds of it, u should be able to replace for a tenner of ebay or something

yes you cunt i know what the bios battery does and what do you think controls wether the m/b switchs on or off when you press the power?
the amount of times we've come across pcs that wont turn on, and a simple bios reset by removing the battery makes it work again, its just the bios throwing a wobbly in a lot of cases
