....between a 1.4 16v and a 1.6 16v
it would be cheaper on the insureace to get a 1.4 but is there tht much a difference.
i mean is there a large differnce between a std 1.6 and a 1.4 with a Sports cat back and a induction kit

Whats the deal with people driving around in a 1.6 for example, when its down as a 1.4 in the logbook? I always thought this was illegal

The only way you'll find that out is get quotes on them. Difficult for us to guess the exact effect to your premiums.
Personally my thinking is that you'll always want the 1.6, and lose money selling the 1.4 if you then go on to buy one after that.
Owning one car long term is cheaper.

Yeah, the insurance difference probabaly isnt that much, just depends on the car, could only be a group or two extra.
The 1.6 will be better of course even over a slightly modded 1.4. More so in torque. Alot of N/A mods, more so for small engines may give small boosts to peak BHP, but they rarely do much for peak torque, so the 1.6 will be much happier at lower rpms.

standard 1.6 was better than my 116bhp 1.4.
the torque makes it the better car.

Exactly Robin, theres no replacement for displacement! You can tune a 1.4 but it will never have the mid range of a larger similar powred engine.

They aren't Vauxhall parts.
