And it's loud

Sounds like constant grinding. Would it be the water pump on a 1.2 8v?!

It's a hideous noise today haha, could hear it over my music! Coming from the Cam Belt cover.

If its coming from cambelt area its most likely to be water pump mate. Get it looked at ASAP.

I had a similar prob on my 1.6 and it turned out to be the water pump.

could be the water pump... dunno if these engine have rollers. could also be that.

Yeh they have tensioners. I've been quoted £120 to have a belt and waterpump fitted It had a cambelt kit 30k ago

they tension on the water pumps but have one roller aswell

i had the same noise just after i bought mine. i would deffo say water pump i also got cambelt done and cambelt tensioners aswell.

Or the alternator. One way to rule that out is to whip the belt off and see if the noise goes away.
