1 preout = 1 amp

No rules on what amp though, if you wanted to run a sub and 2 speakers (as pointless as it is arguably), then you'd need a 4 channel amp:

2 channels to bridge for the sub and a channel each for the speakers, you adjust the amp gain level for each channel accordingly.

If you just wanted a 1 sub then a 2 channel amp is fine

basically the requirements are

1 sub = 2 amp channels
speakers = 1 channel per speaker

As you say you are a noob at ICE, i'd suggest going for a pre built package (sub, amp, box and wiring kit all for one price) as found in ICE shops. This will save you hassle matching RMS values etc and is easiest for people new to ICE.

personally i would recomend caraudiodirect.co.uk
halfords is fine if you speak to the right people, and not just anyone stoating about - you can sometimes get a little knocked off if you speak to the right people too

also just because you only have one pre out, doesnt mean you can only run one amp

the pre out can be split for more than one amp, you can also use an amp with high level inputs
