[quote="Christian and Beccy"]So, for once it looked like we would be nice and prepared for the Thrash. We had a few days to spare with just a few odds-and-ends to do, so pretty much left it until a couple of days before. On Tuesday night, just as I had finished doing what I was doing, I figured that I should road-test the car, just to check it drove OK prior to cleaning it and most of you know what happened.....
I forgot to put the bonnet pins in. Stupid stupid mistake. However, by some miracle I came out unscathed. I still don't know how, but must try and get over it!
Anyway, next morning, I got on the phone and managed to find, at best, a White bonnet from an Escort Van, for £20. It looked pretty manky, but I put it on and polished it all up. It looked pretty good. Coupled with the new windscreen, courtesy of my insurance company and Chris from APT using his patience and skill to tap the dents out, the car actually looked quite presentable. So, I decided that I would do the Thrash and then decide on what direction to go with the car (Keep or break etc).
Now, here's the bit you don't know about and my motivation to continue. We had some success last week in terms of power. The car now has a GT30 turbo. It has been custom built and although a little on the laggy side, seems to be delivering the numbers.
Please consider that despite my previous best RR runs of 314bhp at Power Engineering and 327bhp at SCA, we couldn't see beyond 300bhp on our Dyno Dynamics dyno. A harsh wake-up call for me, no doubt, but one I had to accept.
So, with the new turbo on and a much wilder cam, we got it mapped and here is the result.......
I am over the moon with it and aside from the numbers, it is perhaps more notable that it is a good 50-60bhp ahead of where it was previously. This is still on a standard manifold.

JESUS H FCUKING CHRIST that's a lot for a 1.6
I wonder if anyone can beat that?
edit - standard manifold
Stuart needs to make a LOT more power than that for it to be as impressive then

either way, i'm still impressed with 351bhp from a 1.6
