I never really think of a cage as a handling improvement, more safety reassurance. Any other positive aspects of a cage are a bonus. I think its worth it just for that I wouldnt regard the extra weight unworthy.

I've driven brosters car with the cage, and mine without. his was MUCH stiffer, seemed better at the back end than mine, and it's not that heavy (about 25-30kg for a half cage)

Its important with welded cages to get them properly fitted, bodged welds can be very dangerous, ive heard of cages braking off in accidents and causing further problems. Im gonna play it safe with a bolt in.

Butler, a proper one, with decent boxes and welds, like JRs and brosters, will be as good as one used in a racing car. especially if its built by someone who builds racing cars

Thats my point. Just saying youve always got to be safe, no point in having a cage at all if its not properly welded etc. Like no point in buying a weld in and saying, my mates got a welder and will do it for free. Id rather pay a proper company to do the job.

Bubblevaux, you are here to tell the tale. Are you advising against bolt in cages? I cant see much in the pic but it looks to have done a sufficient enough job.

you have to ask yourself if the car would have been any. or much worse if the cage had not been there?

the b pillar is very tough anyway
