my car failed its mot because the emmisions were 1.86 any ideas how i can reduce them to what it should be? i have replaced lambda sensor but no different. cheers

sorry also there is a very small hole in exhaust by back axle as it keeps knocking on it

a small hole in an exhaust is plenty enough to knock the emissions out
i had a hole about 2/3 the size of a 5p piece in the pipe on mine, and that knocked them out enough to fail.

a hole in exhaust will effect the lambda if the co is 1.86 then its a good chance its the cat what are the full test results

it just says 1.86 exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive

sounds like you need some valve stem oil seals and a new cat if its the co content but dont put the cat on first the oil will clog it up. the valve seals only mean wipping the head of not a big jod

depends on how confident you are i would charge about £400 if it was one of my customers so that will give you an idea. then the cat on top of that
