Me & Rach went to Vauxhall yesterday as they had a Astra VXR over there, they saw her turn up in her GSi, they bummed her.
Anyway, told them that we want to buy a VXR don't want to P/X, furry muff he says. Rach asked for test drive in the VXR, he wasn't ever going to say no
She drove it, I sat in the back = Fast = Sold, improvement over the GSi? Yes.
Anyway, he comes out with a couple of scenarios, part exchange they offered her £6750 for her car ok no, she has a loan on the car with 8k outstanding so tell him that isn't enough and we will go away and talk about our options.
So, he rings her today and offers her 8k CHEQUE to pay her loan off and we can have the VXR on finance which we were going to do anyway, but what me & Rach are debating is that 8k is 1.5k lower than what she wants for it, but is enough to clear her loan so we can start our own finance on the VXR.
In short, would you take the 8k to pay the loan off? Or just sell privately and have to go through the bollocks of selling the GSi?
Oh and the VXR is so so so so lovely 06 plate one in arden blue 19's with climate control 1 owner 1,500 miles, I'm not telling you price or location incase one of you cheeky fookers come and buy it

personally id sell privately and get extra cash, but by that time the vxr could be sold, and it is extra hassle as you said.
whats the age and mileage of the gsi?

I would sell the gsi as you should get £9k which would leave leave you a thousand pounds better off for a little bit of advertising. Then go and buy the vxr!

less hassle to take the deal, it clears your original debt so no more problems there.

Lesson number 1, over-estimate your settlement figure.
They're on the forecourt at 9 though. That offer isn't such a bad one.

I'd keep the GSi personally, it'll be worth more in the future.

Not that one Ian, that ones in Southampton though, think its sold now.
The other scenario is that we don't take this offer up, Rach sells her GSi and then we have to wait for 3 months for a arden blue VXR on 19's for the bargain price this one is.
8k is a good offer from a dealer IMO, but then the GSi isn't my car and Rach is worried that she paid 10k for it just a year ago and shes lost 2k.

Are you joking? It is faster, in non sport mode its the same speed as Rachels GSi, in Sport mode its an animal and the inside is just amazing, the seats and black trimming everywhere is gorgeous. First Vauxhall I have seen with a black headlining.

We have thought of other options, this all started because we wanted a VXR we went looking last weekend and Rach sat in a brand new VX220 Turbo, I love them but know they are no practical but she was in love and we were going to go for that, but after a chat decided that was a bad idea.
Then Thursday night we went and looked a Honda Intergra DC5, lovely lovely car but don't really want to own a imported car, dunno why it just doesn't feel right.
Looked at S2000's decided straight away that they are to plain, lovely cars just not what we are after.
Also Audi TT's but again they are getting on abit now and blend into the background now.

the loss of 2k is to be expected with newer cars such as those and to be offered 8k by a dealer to clear your debt and start a new finance, you cant complain, take the deal
