anyone got any guides for doin an oil change on a b 1.2 8v ?

any anyone know how i will "flush" my water so i can fill it up with anti freeze ?

any help much appriciated!

Doing an oil change on a b 1.2 8v is the same as doing an oil change on any car really.

Get the car up on axle stands with the engine off and make sure its cold. Then be prepared with a container to catch the old oil. Place it under the sump. Undo the sump nut and leave it for 10 mins or so till all the oil drains out.

Then remove the old oil filter. you'll probably need a oil filter wrench to do it. Then bin the old oil filter.

When you have a your new filter dip your finger in the new or old oil and run it round the edge of the rubber seal on the new filter.

Now screw on the new filter. Do not use the oil filter wrench to tighten it. Just use your hands.

After this put the sump nut back in.

Now pour in new oil and keep checking the dipstick till its at maximum.

Then start the car and let it idle for 30secs DO NOT REV IT. then turn it off and check the oil again and top it up again till its at the maximum again.

wot about antifreeze? is there a plug or a nipple somewhere so i can empty it all and fill with anti freeze?

just pull off the bottom rad hose, let it drain.

For better results flush the radiator out. Put a hose in one end (not fed inside, just in) and flush water through it (not high pressure). The water will drain out the other holes. Best done with rad off the car.

Oil - change...as above. I prefer doing it with the engine warmed slightly. Flush the engine with a bit of new oil (just pour through, with sump nut out). Use fresh oil on the filter, not old.
Dont cross thread the sump nut, or over tighted.

Good idea to remove coolant hoses to clean them out. It has been known for sludgy shite to build up in them.

Vaux recommended. Prob part synthetic 10w30. Do a search on here as i've never had the pleasure of doing a service on one.

If you go into a local motorfactors (not Halfords ripoff merchants) they will be able to tell you the recommended oil type and viscosity. Be a damn sight cheaper too

Why cold? I always run mine until it's hot and then drain. That way you stir up all the crap from the bottom of the sump so it comes out too. And it drains faster too.
I've always done it that way, on all my cars.

yes, always drain oil when warm.
