I had a lightened flywheel on my old vectra, the whole losing speed thing whilst going up a hill never became a factor. On the V6 engine there was only one negative point and that was driving in traffic took a little getting used to.

pros:

engine will rev more freely and get to hiogher revs faster, less restriction in rotating mass for the engine to turn.

cons:

revs also drop faster between gearchanges and coasting on motorway speeds.

if its for the track then a good modification that works well on high revving engines. for the road, wouldnt bother.

I've got one on my car and it "seems" to pick up alot quicker after changing gears going through the revs. BTW im comparing this to my old Corsa with standard flywheel so could just be the fact its a better engine

if you were flat out it would lose speed basically is what i meant, like any car would but it would lose it quicker. you wont notice this though id say.

mine idles a bit high but that might be becuase its an amateur bodge of a conversion not the flywheel
