I've just put a show cage in the gti and was shocked at how it just bolts!!! It does look good and will get pics of it later but i was wondering if it's normal that they just bolt into the seat belts and that the brackets are quite soft (i could bend em with my hands). It's in there solidly, doesn't move even slightly and it's very tight against pillars and the roof, but in the case of even crashing is it going to be dangerous???

many topics have been made up about these, u will just get post after post sayin shat! dangerous, shoot,
at end of day they are a show cage, meaning they are there for show, there are by no means a safety device! and they will not help you in a crash

You lot are fools, what defines a show cage?
The way my cage is bolted into the Nova I would say it would help in a accident, its not made out of paper mache ffs.

I'd class a show cage as a cage made out off lightweight alloy that would provide no safety benefit in the event of a crash.
Where as a 6 point steel cage bolted into the car would.

well i'm definately leaving it in, at the end of the day if i could remove the rear seats and have a proper rear cage i would, but MR, Boss has put his foot down and said i need rear seats for picking up temps, so i can only have a show cage and it does look the NUTS!!!!!! But just wondered if even in a shunt (not rolling) if it would be safe!!! I don't drive it like a nutter so the chances of rolling off into a field are unlikey but you can never help the stupid bint behind you smashing up your arse whilst doing her make up and i just wondered if the cage would remain attached in the case of this???
