Saw this today at a Subaru garage, £15,995 and utterly gorgeous and managed to get a good insurance quote as well.
Things that put us off are servicing costs and maintance issues though.
Would be good to hear what Scooby owners think about costs of pads/discs, cambelt changes as this is going to need servicing more.

Rear discs and pads cost me £224. Front pads cost me £110.
Major service with cambelt £430.
Newage (Bug/Blobeye) have less strict servicing to my car at 10k as opposed to my 6 months/7.5k. I don't do the mileage so I do 3-4k between services.
Last service, just oil was £90 at main dealer. I like to have service book stamped.

they dont cost the earth to run....
Fee is still on same brakes after 1.7years and 16k miles or so.
Tyres will be more of an issue as it'll wear 4 over the astra 2 kinda thing.
Should be serviced (oil changed) every 4k miles.... do it yourself.
keep it sensibe and they are reliable
Def rate that over an astra

Mines a Uk Turbo PPP. The WRX is quite tame but with PPP some say its a better car to live with than the STi Type UK and they both stand at 265ps/262bhp.

that will be worth more X years down the line when you sell it too, which will cover the difference in running costs
i paid 10k for my bmw on a 2001 reg, i could sell it tomorrow for what i paid for it
my mate bought a 10k 2005 vectra the same month, he will be lucky if he gets 6 for it now

yeah, deffo a top car, but if dont think u cant afford servicing costs and maintance then dont go out your way to have it.

I feel that to. If your spending this kind of money you want something that will put a grin on your face each time you drive it, the Astra would for a while then you get used to it I think the Impreza would keep the grin on your face longer.

Go for it mate..but be warned once you have owned a scooby and then get rid you WILL want another one.
After sitting in an 04 plate recently it was a million miles better than my old classic WRX was and i am hankering after another.
Bollocks to the servicing etc they are worth it..all i'd say is don't bother modding it as you will lose the money you throw at it and it will be harder to sell on.
