Arsenal have banned St George flags from the Emirates Stadium. A club statement said: "Some of our fans have been upset with flags denoting particular regions of the world." (The Sun)
any1 else think this is just stupid?

Whilst I admit Arsenal tend to field very few (if any at all) British players I think you'll find this is the general direction in which the Premiership is headed.

Better not post what I think of the situation or I'll get banned. Along the lines of they stamp their feet to wear these stupid head/face masks then moan about OUR own National flag.

the thing is its actually true, you dont have enough 'home grown' supporters who will fight this and will just go without a problem.
If this had been at Anfield then there would be a huge outcry by he fans.

Think it was last season at Brentford an Oldham fan was made to take down am England flag down becuase it was offending some of the players
Had the words "born in England, live in England, die in England" accross it IIRC
EDIT - Just found the Link - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/4496928.stm

Apparently due to some bloody greeks
"The Turkish Cypriot ST holder was on talk sport this morning telling his side of the story,it appears he hung his Turkish/Cypriot flag and this offended a large number of our Greek supporters which I can understand, and the turkish ST has received serious threats to his health.(ring any bells) The Arsenal then received an 8,000 strong petition from the greek gooners complaining about the flag, so the Arsenal called the foreign office who said the flag was legal but no one acknowledges it.They then called in the Turkish ST holder and explained the situation saying there were two options 1, that he could carry on and thus carry on receiving the threats or 2, Arsenal ban all nationalistic flags, and this is the course of action they have taken."
