Don't need drivers to show the BIOS That's why it's displayed in a standard VESA mode.

I'm assuming it's a PCI card? Sounds like the card could just be screwed or just not seated correctly...

its probably got an inbuilt gfx card on the motherboard and is using that as default.

If it has, plug the monitor into that then go into the bios and set the default to pci or agp, then put the cable back in the new card.

if non of what i said applys, then what tim said

okay i installed the drivers and now it sees that it is actually the correct card! however, still no picture.

i see no option like that in the BIOS, shall i get a new BIOS? when i go to display properites the card is there, but even selecting it to primary adaptor makes no difference.

im gonna try with s-video to my tv tomorrow which works on my nvida card, to see if the ati is truely screwed or not...

Have you got it plugged the monitor into the gfx card and not onboard gfx? Everything in securely, and in the correct place?

Sorry to sound patroniseing (sp) , but mistakes like this are common :/
