I seem to get everything going, its been like this for as long as I remember & I cannot for the life of me work out why??

For me to have maybe 5 or 6 strong colds/flu in 12 months is not uncommon & it really knocks me off my feet. I wouldnt consider myself to be a weedy coont & can take a knock & keep on going but a common cold just seems to wipe the floor with me.

I had a cold just before Christmas cleared it maybe the week before & now ive got another ever stronger one that kicked off on Tuesday, Ive been totally useless for last 3 days, I mean like Im aching all over, cant sleep, cant eat, physically fucked basically. I didnt even know what day it was when I woke up today

I dont think I really put myself in a position to catch cold I dont think & I even take a winter flu vitamin supplement every day in the hope It will help which im pretty sure it did for a while but deffo not now....waste of money!! Is there maybe something else I can take?? Would the flu jab be of any use & does anyone get it??

I also had the mumps last year which fucked me for a bit. Its not so good when you get called up for a work apprisal & you have been off loads & can only say I had the cold...it sounds pathetic.

I dunno I dont want to sound like an idiot but is there anything im doing wrong?? Or anything else I could take/do to help combat catching cold/flu virus, I just feel im wide open to whatever’s going round its getting me down now

Ask a Doctor

Wrap up warmer / don't kiss people who have the flu.

My doctor told me the multi vitamin tablets are pointless...and a varied healthy diet is better for you!!

Do you exercise a lot? Exercise boosts your immune system also...

I might take a look into some other vitamins then or those immune booster things you get.

Erm, probably dont do as much exercise as I should, although this spans from years ago when I used to get alot of exercise, play footy, cycle etc

nope. it's a virus, not hypothermia.

being fit helps, exercise, eating well.

but even then, some things will get to you.

You should get enough vitamins in your diet, multivitamin tablets are for people who are paranoid.

I never had any multivitamins when I was a kid, and was NEVER ill while I was at school. My mate had the daily, and was off every month.

It's all about diet.

Well I consider myself to have a good diet & always have......must just be different.

Some people are just more immune to this type of shit, i'll get onto the more exercise in the NY & see how that goes!!

I was sick all last year when i worked in a school full time My mate is working there now and she is always sick too

Don't think there is anything you can do about it really. I didn't help myself going out an awful lot and not eating proper food and regularly.

Aye Colin, i've had to grow up too Only a couple of times a month i go out now. Bored with all my mates tbh. Time i do something for myself... I've only been sick once in the past 6 months and an early night sorted that out. Got problems with my ears but that's another story and waiting to go for an operation.

As for my mate, she works herself too hard but it will pay off for her as she's determined! I wish her all the luck in the world, she's a great girl. Just wish i could get motivated and have some of her determination. Bored shitless with just 14 weeks of uni left and a TV that just blow up lol

I've been having a hunt on google for some answers, dunno if this is any good

http://www.healthy.co.uk/tips/immune-system.html?gclid=CLasxP3zuIkCFQzBXgodsj0WNg

After reading all that, I think you need to go to the doc and get your immune levels checked out hun

being run down alot makes your immune system low. I was like you, always caught colds after colds, just felt like crap. I have tend to keep to a heathly diet, inc veg and fruit dayly, and drink loads of water. it does help, i prob have about half the amount of flu/colds now.

Also dont excerice when you have a cold, it brings the immune system down more.

Colin, I am exactly the same mate. I can go for a long time without getting anything but then I catch a cold and thats me fecked. One seems to clear up then I get another one.

I must have had the same thing as you the past few days. Have been in bed for 3 days, not eaten anything, shivers, headaches etc. They have cleared now but I've got a shitty cold now.

I eat really well (cause I'm living at home at the moment and me mum is making me dinner) and I play footy twice a week so think I'm fairly heathly.

I have therefore decided that my bouts of ill health are due to boozing too much. It seems that if I have a big weekend then i come down with something.
