ive got myself a '97 corsa, and recently ive noticed that its kind of playing up! i put it in reverse handbrake down and go off my drive but when i put the accelorator pedal down from standing still over night it makes a loud CLUNK noise as liek ive ran something over but i havent any ideas???

its got an old handbrake cable and it is sticking. failing this- the pads are sticking in the drums!

Mine did the same after driving in torrential rain, also Dad's Transit used to do it - it's handbrake related, something sticking.

take rear wheel off and whack the drum with a mallet.......worked on 2 of mine

lmao @ M2RTY. yeah i left it in gear with the handbrake OFF overnight and it was ok this morning, Everyone who has had this problem follow what i did you'll be fine. will update you if i find any other ways

This normally happens when it is damp. The shoes stick to the drums. Try WD40ing where the handbrake cable goes through the plastic directors on the back axle.
