got a mini dv camcorder but cant transfer video from it to laptop as there isnt a firewire port on it sooo..

got a trust dv-pc card kit.

plugged it all in, slotted the card in, then realised it requires a 12v 1000ma supply.

couldnt find a 12v 1000ma supply, so tried a 800ma, wont work at all, surely it'd come to life, or do i really need the 1000ma for it to start working, or is there something else i've missed.
