Right poor Gina is on crutches thanks to dislocating her knee cap just before xmas, she put on weight over xmas as we all did but is keen to loose it, she cant go to the gym for obvious reasons, she would like to swim but our swimming pool is only accesable via a ladder which she cant do.

So.... What exersises can she do whilst sitting/on one leg that dont involve walking to get her HR up and burn some calories?

Anyone got any ideas?

erm... Cardio without using her legs seems like a tall order tbh But cardio excersise is all about keeping the heart rate in "the zone". So anything that can get her working really. Even some light weightlifting

Dumbells would be a good excersise to do. Just anything that keeps the heart rate up without putting strain on her legs tbh Extreme dish washing

yes her leg is moveable but she cant put pressure on it.
I know its a tall order so i suggested some weight lifting and some stretches.

My mum has those weights you strap to the legs/arms to aid weight loss whilst running she could use those to lift her leg to aid the muscles....

I would not recommend putting them on her leg tbh Not until she's been given the all clear. Then start off very light, and slowly build up the weight until she has full strength in her leg again But putting them on her arms would be a good idea. Can't she even go for a walk?

too dangerous rob, if she slips (its metal) then she could do some damage to herself or her allready fooked leg.

Extreme dishwashing sounds good

to be honest I think she's better off until she can walk on her leg before doing any exercice. It's not worth the risk.

doctors have told her to go swimming! So she needs to do something but our gym pool is poor for access.

Local pool is just as bad so not sure what to do.

Could you help her in?

They may have a lift, for people in wheelchairs?

Go to the gym and ask if they have one of those vertical rowing machines

Its one you sit one, and row with your hands

Either that or find a pool with disabled access and she can do widths using her arms only. Or buy her a pool bouy that she can put between her thighs and swim normally without kicking her legs as the bouy will keep her legs afloat

some gyms have like a reverse cycle, ie you hold two hand grips and do the cycling motion but its just your arms you are using.

either that or what ally has suggested with the pool is a good idea.

I thought all public swimming pools had to have disabled access? I know my local one does.

Have you enquired?
