can this be done without the conversion kit?
was considering it but noone sells the kits in malta. and to ship a whole kit from the uk would be quite expensive!!!
what are your views on this matter? would it be more worth to use a 1.6 and tune it with the extra cash?

yes can be done without a kit.
aslong as you are good at metal fabrication and you can use a lathe

id just get a kit myself as its easier and less faffing about . mounts are easy enuff to make tho

mtech mounts etc are the most factory looking imo... worth the extra money (imo)

Depends on how much it costs somone to weld you a mont up out there. You can do it using Mk II Cav inner CV's and Corsa GSi driveshafts, then your next issue is the Powercap. You need one of those or an adaptor made up so you can fit the inlet pipe off of an X20XEV. You also need to mod the gear linkage and space the gearbox mount out 10mm. If all this costs more than £150 then it might be worth just going for the MTech kit as it all comes in a box ready to go...
There is no right or wrong way really, so up to you in the end

It's coz the C20XE waights more than the X16XE. Don't know how much tho...

am going to check engine prices next week. already saw a C16XE and was quoted almost £700 for it. including gearbox, ecu, wiring etc (had approx. 45,000miles). will check about C20XE next week then i'll decide!!

about 20kg's isnt it, but depends on which gearbox you go for.

its a hell of a lot more than 20kg. the c20xe flywheel alone is 3kg heavier than a flat x16xe one.
