Ello all,

Ive just got myself a Corsa 1.616v Sport and im thinking of giving it a Euro look overhal, but im not too keen on how the tyres fit on the wheels?
Ive been told that you need to stretch the tyres, but isnt this unsafe or illegal?

Maybe someone can clear this up for me and give me some advice on the subject matters?

Many Thanks,
dave

You dont have to stretch the tires, but its part of the euro look. Stretched tires are legal but ive heard they can come off the rim of driven round corners hard

not illegal, but can be unsafe......as on hard cornering the weight is partly on the tyre sidewall

Cheers Guys,

Im not really that good on tyres sizes, etc. So what do recomend for a 15x8" wheel on a Corsa B thats had arch work done, and for the tyre to be safe enough for me not too worry?

Many Thanks

you need 7x15 front and 8x15 rears with a front offset of about 35-37 and rear of about 30-35ish i believe.

rimstyle do some euro wheels and dubmeister.

this subject has been covered a few times now so if you search for rh cup or euro wheels on here you should find some more info. Check my garage for pictures of said sized wheels

i have 195/45/15 tyres allround on mine, but they would easily stand to take 185/45/15 on the fronts for more of a stretch.

but 195/45/15s are fine and look good, especially if you get falken tyres as they have a stretched style sidewall to start with.

if your going euro i presume youll be doing the coilover thing, if you are or even if your not, look out for the wheels fouling the sus.

Cheers Willhouse!

I did think about the suspension may foul on the rims, Was thinking of getting the FK Highsport Coilover set as its adjustable ride hight front and rear which is quite appealing, plus there under £400!

Could i not do the Mod as in the tutorial, by putting a softer height adjustment spring on?

there is no need to get coilovers, its not such a clever idea buying the cheap coilovers, you need to spend 5-600 notes to get a good set.

iv got 50mm pumasport springs from larkspeed on gmax dampers, the car handles very well and does not foul the suspension at all. the rear could stand to go a bit lower but the fronts are perfect. i suggest you do something similar

Ok, i didnt really want to get coilovers that much anyway!

One other things, is it legal or have have you had any probs with having different width's of wheels front and rear, i.e. 8" rear, 7" front...?
Just that ive never really seen any on others?

there are no legalities with different wheel widths on any cars , you just need to inform your insurance that you have alloys.
The tyre tread, and only the tyre tread must be level or inside of the cars bodywork or wheelarches, the wheel rim and the tyre sidewall can be outside of the bodywork like my rears, this is know as stretched tyres.

Awesome, cleared a few things up for me there.

Just found a nice Spax VSX suspension kit with 50mm lowering springs for under £250... any good?

Also does lowering its 50mm effect the camber of the wheels, if so can i adjust it fairly easy or do i need to purchased a camber allignment kit?

4x108 means it has 4 stud holes and that the pcd is 108, the pcd is distance between the centre of the stud holes, corsa pcd is 100
