Im a perfectionist. Id like to keep my rallye to be honest, but i can't help thinking id save myself alot of hassle buying a new car. Theres little nooks and crannys that are loose, and various rattles in the car that do my head in. The loud tappets, some thing loose on the dashboard that wont go back in, the interior light hanging down, a rattle from the rear, no idea what it is! Rusting steelies, the little dents in the body work. Does someone want to convince me it would be worth fixing everything? Or do people agree its better to move on. Ive got about £800 cash to spend on the car now, its getting a new rear beam this week hopefully. The engine is tappety as hell which does me head in! 16v? Gaaaaah.

spend £800 on another car maybe ? x

just remember everyone probably has had that issue tbh!, maybe write a list of things to be done and work your way through them in the next couple of days..or any spare time you have just work your way through it and you might feel a bit more happier with it??

justa suggestion thats all xx

Option 1: Replace rear beam for MOT, take PC to bodywork, fix minor cosmetics, source new drivers door, get dent in boot fixed., buy bilstein sprintline dampers and eibach springs, get some new wheels, source rear door cards, sell harnesses, put seatbelts back in and rear interior parts, sell lower group a mount, sell ashley system, buy group n lower mount, source and drop a 16v in or do something about the tappets but i dont know what? buy peugeot sport back box and have center section custom made but meanwhile use standard exhaust.

Option 2: Replace rear beam for mot, sell up, put money towards new car, about £2k overall?

What do you reckon?

Whats PC ? heard talk about this before..

I have the same thing mate but your never going to find a car that is perfect really.

All things youve listed there are only a few you actually need to make it a minter..

My car has rattles etc, most of them though are things that have been fitted such as the ned 6x9's with 2 screws holding them in etc ...

Porter cable, its a device that takes back a layer of paint, brings it up like brand new.

Id like to keep the 1.3 for now, but the tappets are SOOO annoying, they are so loud since my rebuild.

i love 106 rallyes. dont sell it. its a beautiful car.

i have the same problem. i have a mark left over from running strips i tiny little dint and a few tip-exed paint bits (not by me)

hopefully one day it will all be gone

but you cant expect perfection from 97 plate car (as i found)

Rip everything out so nothing will rattle. Keep it to an absolute bare minimum.

youre a student arent you or want to be one, so i if i were u id rip the interior apart and find the rattles and try to fix anything that makes a noise. get some 205 wheels and spray white. clean it up as much as possible and fix any mechanics. dnt worry too much about the lil dents and dings.
or if u decide to get a job then buy a second lil everyday car and spend some time and money on the 205 over a longer period of time, including a 1.6 16v engine.

seems silly to keep shelling out on an old car doesnt it!! Then again if you get something else you will probably feel the same about it with little things annoying you!! If its got a good shell keep it & enjoy it......but dont go wild spending on it because its not worth it & you will never see any of it back!!! You could spend ££££'s & still not be happy with it

Yeah im a student. At the moment im tempted to sell up and look for either a 106 gti or another rallye, seems to much hassle on mine. I need to stop teasing myself thinking of what car I should get though cos I still have to sell mine first and it still has problems

tbh I think you were asking too much for it.......1800 for a 1994 pug, c'mon now its never going to sell for that!!

2nd if its going to cost more to put right than its worth why bother, if its sound shell & mechanics just keep it & run it into the ground....worry about having a flash car & being a perfectionist when you can afford to be i.e. once you graduate.

Just something to throw onto the fire
