not true once the new rules come in this summer...
If a player has signed a contract prior to him turning 28, and has played 2 years of that contract he can buy himself out of it for whatever is remaining on the contract.

he would just get a sign on fee for the same amount as he paid out. Means he would cost £8m (ow whatever is left) instead of £45m!

I couldnt remember if he did that or not. I have seen stories recently about them wanting to get him tied down to a new 100k a week one so thought he might not of signed anything in the summer.

Aye, everyones clammering to get their under 28's to sign new contracts as its the latest one thats effective :S
Kind of a silly ruling in terms of the clubs but in terms of the players its kind of only fair!
