every time I switch on my laptop it asks me for a password to log on to windows. how do I remove this password request?
p.s its not the user account password, just a password to open windows.

sounds like bios password, try hitting the del key or f2 key when turning it on, see if theres any options to disable the password in there

nope, its not the user account password. already tried that one. it comes up before windows starts.

have you recently installed .net network off windows update, uninstall it of so, that happened with mine.

delete any other users on your PC, and set a blank password to your account

It'll be in your BIOS settings - will bet my house on it - it's not a Windows user password - as Dave has stated about 3 times already.....
