at the risk of me getting slated here, are red top corsas that quick? would they see off say a clio sport, vts etc.... iv never been in one but iv got a 1.6 sport and the engine is getting a bit tired. the lure of a red top is huge but i dont want to be dissapointed really cos my sport feels quite quick anyway. any comments would be great and dont slate me too much cheers

It would be quicker than your Sport as it is.
You'll open the old XE/1.6 Tuning can of worms here. Robin and Dave.

dont really want to start the 1.6 redtop debate, i find iv got to beast my sport to get the best fom it, obviously the red top is more torquey lower down the revs

I don't think the difference is huge. The 2.0 is faster, but it's not like comparing a corsa 1.6 16v to a 1.0 12v.

its not a massive difference but you really notice the torque.
on a rolling start from maybe 20mph to about 80mphdebending on state of tune ofcourse a 1.6 will be pretty close after that the redtop will be off.
again, thats if you want it to drive fast!

I though the difference between my 1.6 sport and 2.0 was big..1.6 doesn't compare to a 2.0 XE..
2.0 xe
0-60 = 7.0 secs ish
150bhp
1.6 sport
0-60 = 9.5 secs
106 bhp
2.0 is more responsive and torquey...
