The Control Module supplies power to your ignition (just like turning it on with a key).
Then the Module supplies power to your starter for up to max. of 4 seconds to start your engine.
The Module monitors your engine tachometer or voltage, knows when your engine starts, and releases the starter so it doesn't grind your starter.

Most cars, if not all, have to have the key in the ignition or card in the slot.
I know someone that had remote start fitted to his Astra - couldn't have been a good one though because he had left it in reverse gear, started up showing off, and the car stalled backwards into a lampost, smashing his bumper.

I'm fitting a push button starter and removing the lock barrel on my nova at the moment, the weight saving is massive

Very cool mod with the ignition flick switch, i think if you had a cat 1 alarm / immobiliser that is activated via a key fob i can't see it being un safe!

I heard a story on here once of a chap who had a corsa with water in the rear lights and scabby bodywork. He was sat next to another corsa at traffic lights and revving his engine..... while jingling the keys out the window
