tbh he had a crap world cup and has had a bad season so far, ferdinand on the other hand was one of the few who walked away from the world cup with praise and had been solid all season!

overrated imo

PRobably is over rated by the press etc but dont think you can say he doesnt deserve some praise! He is without a doubt a good defender and good captain!

Im a utd fan so hate chelsea but cant argue that Terry isnt a great captain and a huge asset to any football team!!

Carra had a crap WC? Yeah, if you mean having to play every game out of position

Carra has had a bad season so far? Conceeded same amount as Utd have this season, so would hate to see how many we conceed when he has a good season

I was going to say

Terry is over rated in the media for sure, but he is still probably the best English CD when he is fully fit.

I agree that Terry is a great defender but that is just bollocks. My best England backline would probably be

Cara - Ferdinand - Terry - Bridge/Cole.

Carra isnt a RB, he doesnt offer enough attacking ability. He can do a good job there defending wise but thats it.

He is better than Rio in the centre, but IMO I couldnt care less if he played or not...less chance of him getting injured if he doesnt.

I would rather he just defended tbh. Let the attackers do their job.

a good team like England should have attacking fullbacks, leaving 4 back all the time isnt the way a great team should play.

Yeah I know that, but they have enough quality in midfield and attack to get goals. I would rather have 4 solid defenders

If the FA had given O'Neill the job i believe, with everyone fit, the team would look similar to this imo -

-----------------------Robinson--------------------------

------Woodgate------Terry-----Ferdinand------------

---Neville------------------------------------------Cole--

----------------------Hargreaves------------------------

--------Gerrard-------------------------------------------

-------------------------Rooney---------------------------

------------Crouch-----------------Owen----------------

Ignoring my shocking spacing though

3 solid defenders 2 attacking wing backs, Hargreaves holding, Gerrard more towards the right hand side Rooney playing off the strikers where he is most dangerous, a target man for varied options and a world class striker, when he is fit, in Owen.

TBH Rooney and Crouch play similar games, both off the last man to hold the ball up for midfield / playmaker type player. So IMO pointless having them both in, and simple choice which to have.

And I think anyone picking Woodgate over Carra is possibly the thing that winds me up more than anything in this world

Woodgate and Ferdinands partnership against Spain was the 1 positive thing to be taken from it imo otherwise i would have said Carragher.

If not Crouch it would be some other player with the ability to bring the ball down shield and release others, it was Sutton for Celtic it will be Carew for Villa.

His whole philosiphy is built on energetic full backs with stamina, 3 big burly defenders, a holding midfielder that can break up play and give the ball to good footballers, a late bursting midfielder, a goalscorer and a targetman. Was succesful for us anyway time will tell if it works for Villa.
