How hard would it be to get that running as a dual boot on my laptop?
Would it need serious ammounts of ram etc?

Only limitation with XGL though is you can only have 4 desktops, the top and bottom plane of the cube are for just a single texture for eye-candy

You need less resources to run a Linux system as opposed to a Windows system

bit pointless IMO, looks fancy and would impress people who hadnt seen anything like it before, but would much prefer something simpler for day to day use.....or just more screens!

So to have that running on a system what sort of specs would you need?

Im guessing having those add-ons to make it do that would use up more than your standard Windows system though!!

Installing Ubuntu is fairly straight forward, but how hard is it getting XGL/Kiba-dock etc installed? Does it require kernel rebuilds?
Might be tempted to pop it on just for peeing around with

Looks very cool.
Not of any use at all for anything apart from showing off in videos like that though.

Gimmick...
Why the fuck do you need a movie playing as your back ground if your gonna have your work / documents open over the top?
who cares that on the back or sides of the cube there's other video's playing at the same time! you can only look at one side of the cube at once, it's utterly pointless... other than going 'look at me, I'm a Geek'.

Multiple Desktops are really useful as you can have a window for browsing, another for something like video editing etc.
Its a great show off feature but once you are using your computer you don't really notice it.
